Arkade Wallet
A focused critique and redesign of the wallet home screen, treated as the entry point to the wider Arkade ecosystem.
I started by comparing established Bitcoin wallet patterns before changing the interface.
Arkade is an open-source, self-custodial Bitcoin wallet built on the Ark protocol: it lets people send payments, swap assets and lend without giving up their keys, and runs as a web app on mobile and desktop.
The benchmark looked at Leather, Xverse, Aqua and Bitkit. The goal was not to copy a competitor, but to understand how comparable wallets organize balance information, transaction actions and access to broader product features.
The review focused on three hierarchy and clarity issues in the original home screen.
Rather than listing them separately, I mapped each observation back to the interface so the relationship between critique and redesign stays visible.
The balance did not feel central enough for the primary wallet view.
Send and Receive had the same visual weight, so the hierarchy between them was not explicit.
The Receive icon could be more immediately recognizable.
The redesign responds directly to the issues identified in the original screen.
I increased the prominence of the balance, added a balance chart, introduced quick QR access, clarified the receive icon and adjusted the priority between the main action buttons.

The balance is larger and leads the screen.
A chart gives the balance context over time.
Send and Receive no longer carry the same weight.
The receive action uses a clearer symbol.
A QR shortcut sits in the top corner for faster payments.
The exercise also identified directions that could extend the wallet beyond the home screen redesign.
These were product ideas rather than validated requirements, so I kept them separate from the redesign itself.
For additional security.
Fund the wallet without an exchange.
Save the recovery phrase before the first deposit.
A layout for larger screens.
Switch between sats and BTC.
The strongest part of this exercise is the tight connection between critique and redesign. A next step would be usability testing around action priority, QR access and comprehension of the balance section before expanding into the broader product ideas.
