Exchange directly, without first funding a trading balance.

For the crypto to crypto swap, a person chose what to send and what to receive, entered a destination wallet, then sent funds to the address supplied for that exchange. The selected currency was delivered to the receiving wallet. This is commonly described as a non-custodial instant exchange or direct crypto swap.

The design challenge was to explain each handoff clearly: what amount is being sent, what comes back, where to send it and how to follow the transaction. The broader concept also explored fiat options, account and verification screens.

One exchange, four clear moments.

  1. Step 1Select the pair

Pick the currency to send and the one to receive; see the exchange rate and limits.

  2. Step 2Check the details

Confirm the amounts, fee and receiving wallet before committing.

  3. Step 3Transfer funds

Send the selected cryptocurrency to the unique address shown in the exchange summary.

  4. Step 4Track completion

Follow the exchange and receive the converted currency in the destination wallet.

Naming & identity

A name and mark with a shared idea.

THE NAME

Coinplaza

I chose Coinplaza by combining “coin”, the product’s currency, with “plaza”, a public place associated with sharing and interaction. It gives a technical exchange a more familiar and approachable name.

THE LOGO

A coin, a square and a digital layer.

I designed the mark around three elements. The coin is an immediately recognizable, scalable currency shape; binary digits express the digital context. The buildings above the coin represent a square inspired specifically by Piazza dell’Anfiteatro in Lucca.

THE COLOR

Bitcoin orange as a starting point.

I started with #F7931A, the orange of the Bitcoin logo, to give the exchange a visual connection to the currency people already recognize. Around it, warmer tones and dark neutrals help distinguish the exchange actions from supporting information.

Put the first decision at the centre of the homepage.

The interface opens with a send/receive selector, a fiat/crypto switch, currency search and a browsable coin grid. Market information gives context, while the exchange flow reveals rate, fee, limits and transaction status when they matter. The aim was to reduce uncertainty without asking someone to understand a full trading terminal.

The original HTML prototype

From selection to a completed exchange.

Selected states from the original multi-page prototype. The rates, amounts and addresses shown in these archival screens are sample content. Select a screen to view it at full size.

ChoiceDefine what leaves and what arrives.

A Bitcoin to Ethereum example brings the pair, rate, amount, limits and receiving address into one decision point.

Send screenOriginal sending screen with transaction summary, transfer address and QR code
SendKeep the transaction summary in view.

The summary stays visible while the transfer address and QR code explain exactly where to send the funds.

Completion screenCoinplaza completion screen: transaction summary, transaction ID, success confirmation and feedback form
CompletionMake the outcome explicit.

A success state closes the flow, with the transaction ID retained for reference and an optional feedback prompt after completion.

DISCOVERY

Choose without guessing

Recognizable currency names, search and a visible send/receive pair make the starting choice explicit.

CONFIDENCE

Show the exchange terms

Rate, expected amount, fee and limits sit alongside the transaction before funds are sent.

ORIENTATION

Keep progress visible

Choice, sending, receiving and completion form a sequence that users can follow.

Reflection

This early project connected naming, brand and interface around one product promise. If I revisited it today, I would simplify the dense coin grid, improve contrast and accessibility, and test the full exchange journey with users before development.
